About Us
The Idaho Sandpipers were founded in 1971 in Boise Idaho by Bob Angell and Peter O'Neal. Idaho Falls was opened in 1974 and the Pocatello location was opened a year later.
In the early 80s the restaurants were purchased by Pug Ostling and Jim Parkinson.
The company grew to include 5 Idaho locations, two in Oregon
and one in Arizona.
In 1997 four employees, Ron and RoseAnne Obendorf of Idaho Falls, and Rod and Kathleen Russell of Pocatello formed a partnership and purchased the two locations and have been operating as Sandpiper Restaurants East since that time. The restaurants have similar menus and decor but reflect the individual personalities of each partner. Pocatello is a college town, and is a hub for the railroad. I86 and I15 intersect. Idaho Falls has the Snake river running right outside the back door with a view of the Temple across the river. Both are within a few hours drive of Yellowstone park to the north and Salt Lake city to the south.
Steak and Seafood have been the mainstay on the menu with Prime Rib and Halibut Crunch the 2 most popular dishes. The restaurants offer a full service, casual atmosphere where friends and family can dine along with tourists, and business clientele.
Great wine lists compliment a full liquor bar.
